The Monday AI Update ·

What happened in AI this week

The AI news, translated for hot girls.

Happy Tuesday, gorgeous.

The robots had a busy week. Here's what actually matters for your business — minus the keynote buzzwords.

Shopping

Walmart let the robots into the store — on your terms

On October 21, Walmart launched an Agent Gateway and Agent Profiles so AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Meta's Muse can shop Walmart and Sam's Club for you. Each agent gets its own profile, its purchases show up separately from yours, and you approve every purchase or set a spending limit — agents never see your payment card details. Your take: your customers are about to shop through agents, not just websites. Make sure what you sell is easy for an agent to find, understand, and buy — and steal Walmart's rule for your own agents: approval first, always.

Agents

Claude got a job that starts before you do

Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet on October 21: a proactive agent that sends you a morning brief, keeps working in the cloud after you close your laptop, and checks with you before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything. It can chase unpaid invoices, draft reminders, and buy business supplies through Stripe's Link wallet (with a virtual card, so your real card number stays hidden) or Shopify's Shop Pay. It's waitlisted for U.S. Pro and Max subscribers for now. Your take: this is the agent shape to copy — it does the follow-up work, but you stay the boss of every consequential move.

Voice

Two labs had the same idea on the same day: AI that can actually hold a phone call

On October 20, ElevenLabs launched Eleven Realtime — two speech-to-speech models that listen, think, and talk as one model, in 90+ languages, answering in about 0.6 seconds — and Mistral launched Voxtral 3, a voice-agent stack with transcription, speech, and a LiveKit-based SDK you can run on your own infrastructure. Your take: if routine calls eat your day (bookings, FAQs, reschedules), a voice agent that sounds like a person just became a realistic hire. Pilot it on the boring calls first, and always keep a human route open.

Marketing

Your next customer might not be a person

Demandbase launched a set of AI agents for business-to-agent marketing on October 20, including an AEO Agent that tracks and influences how AI assistants describe your brand to buyers. Gartner predicts 90% of B2B buying will be intermediated by AI agents by 2028. Your take: soon, an agent will shortlist you before a human ever visits your site. Clear offers, clear pricing, and pages an agent can actually read are no longer nice-to-haves — they're how you get recommended.
